on october 1996 we purchased a compaq presario desktop at circuit
city in noralk california, in addition to the computer and
printer we also purchased the 4yrs extended service warranty.

On aug 1999 we called to report that our computer would seem to
freeze for no apparant reason. We were then referred to GE which
seems to be hired by circuit city to handle computer technical
support. The techs at GE are extremly rude and very
unprofessional. After waiting on the phone for 20 min one of the
reps came to line and diagnosed the problem over the phone.

A service technician was schd to come on sep30 to replace the
computers mother board. The technician didnt really know what he
was doing and he erased the operating system from my computer.

I then called back GE and notified them of the problem they asked
if i had a restore disk and since i had purchased the computer so
long ago I didnt have it. I was on the phone for 3hrs and 45 min
w/the tech in attempts to fix the problem over the phone, nothing
was accomplished.

I was very upset and called circuit city norwalk and spoke with
store manager who was very apathetic and said that was the normal
process. On Oct1 i called circuit city customer number and spoke
with an agent she was very nice but useless she transferred me to
GE where i spent another 4hrs w/another incompetant technician
who attempted to fix the prob. After 4hrs of trobleshooting he
determined it was the hardrvie but refused to replace it because i
didnt have the restore disk. The reason the restore disk was
needed in the first place was because the tech erased the operating
systerm from my cmputer but GE would not assume responsiblity.

I then tried to contact Circuit City''s President and spoke
w/his executive secretary who seemed interested and promised a
return call, which i have not yet received. This whole situation
is very frustrating and i would simply like to make all of the
LOYAL circuit city customers aware of what actually happens once
you try to use your extended service warranty.

Like I told the store manager im simply asking for a service that I
have ALREADy paid for.

i am currently an employee of ge-zurich,,we do the extended warranty for circuit city,,i will not atempt to save circut city,,because when an eu calls in,they tell us what cc told them to sell the contract but we do take care of the customers as best as we can,,the eu calls in wanting one certain thing,and when they do not get what they want,,they become upset,and pissed off because of wanting exact service ,,when they
do not get it,they say this and that,we do honor our end of the
contract,and do service and stand behind what we sell,if the people will read the contract,,and don't be stupid enough to believe a SALESMAN, read the contract,,and know exactly what they are buying,
