Approximately Jan 20th I received a statement from Cavalry
Portfolio Services in the amount of $1,040.90 addressed to my sister. Sadly, Marge died on Sept. 12, 2002.

Naturally I was stunned as prior to her debilitating illness I had all her mail forwarded to me, paid each and every bill. I still continue to receive occasional mail, but mostly junk and charitable requests.

I immediately called Cavalry explaining the situation to them, and they informed me they had purchased this account from Sprint and in order to delete it from their records it would be necessary for me to furnish them with a Death Certificate. Since her death so long ago I have discarded most all of the data I gathered at the time. In order to get a copy of this certificate, I must either go to the funeral home, or downtown to the Hall Of Records, which is a day-long, arduous trek in
today's 24-hour rush hour traffic in the Dallas area.

I then wrote a two-page letter to the address in Tempe, sending it Certified Mail, Return Receipt Requested. I received the return receipt a few days ago, signed by Vernon Kam, and dated Jan. 25, 2005. In that letter I told them I would honor their request for a copy of her Death Certificate only upon them sending me a complete compilation of all the charges, i.e. Date of call, Phone number of recipient of call, Total charges of each individual call, etc.

In the meantime I called Sprint, giving them the same information I had given Cavalry, and asked them to give me a complete accounting. They told me that once they sold the account to a collection agency it was deleted from their data. Come on. I may have ridden on a turnip truck, but I've never fallen off one!

Oh yes, another enigma.... My sister NEVER USED SPRINT OR ANY OTHER LONG DISTANCE SERVICE, plus she had an un-listed phone number.

BIG QUESTION..... In almost 2 1/2 years since her death, why have I not received any notification of any kind - I repeat - all her mail was forwarded to me, and still is.

I tried to call the above mentioned Mr. Kam at Tempe address with no results. The person I talked to sounded as though he had never heard the name. Then gave me another number to call, (866-483-5139). I called this number last week - their voice mail tells you if you don't care to wait, leave your phone number, Cavalry Account No. and they will get back to you SOON.
Never did hear, and tried again today about three hours ago. Strange, isn't it - STILL NO REPLY FROM ANYONE.

Probably haven't paid their phone bill, but can still accept incoming calls, but prohibited from any outgoing calls.

I shall now jump off my soap box if you please. Thank you
for this opportunity.
