I moved from CA to TX using Camel moving. Though I have a multitude of complaints about them my chief one is that I overcharged. I was quoted $800 for 1500 pounds of stuff. Plus a $75 charge for me living on the second floor on my appartment complex etc. My bill was more like $1800.

When it came to make the bill the worker tells me that things are billed on the basis of cubic footage not weight. Had I known that I would have sold off some large bulky items and kept other heavier items. The miminum charge was for 150 cu. ft. That seemed reasonable. But then the guy tells me I actually have 300 cu. ft. I challenged him and he said he would look the other way on 75 cu. ft. of that (trying to get a good tip!) leaving me with 225 cu. ft. to pay. With all my stuff in the truck I wasn't in much of a position to argue.

But when it arrived (finally! That's another story) I carefully measured every box and came up with 122 cu. ft. I was ripped off $400 for shipping 75 cu. ft. stuff that doesn't exist!

Contacting Camel got me nowhere and the Better Business Bureau tried but Camel told them I got undercharged.

My advice - do not use Camel Movers. They are very sleezy operators.
