I rented a Budget Rent A Car in Portland, Oregon in September this year for our annual vacation.  We ended up with a Chevy HHR.  So far so good.  They gave us the keys and we were off to have fun.

Of course everything was going fine, we were cruising down the highway when out of nowhere, the back drivers side window imploded, not exploded but imploded.  Glass went flying everywhere.  Thank God, nonone was in the backseat at the time because it could have caused serious injury or even blinded someone.

Well , of course we immediately returned the vehicle to Budget by driving all the way back to the airport and replaced it with a toyota this time.  Much better. We were told that this type of car (HHR),  had a window seal problem and that several vehicles had been returned in that very week for the same issue.   Apparently the seal on the windows is made of plastic and if the glue is not applied properly for a tight fit,  it will cause the window to explode.

We were actually told by one of the car attendants this (after)  we rented the vehicle.  All I can say is that I consider this to be very negligent on Budgets part.  If they knew about it why didn't they say something before we rented it??

Now to add insult , they want us to pay for the damaged window and have charged our credit card.  I highly recommend not renting from Budget if they are going to show so little regard for their customers.
