Very poor customer service and running a credit report without permission. Budget/Avis rent a car took my money for a rental that I booked 3 days in advance, then left us stranded in front of their office.  Didn't even offer us a ride. When we arrived to pick up the vehicle we were asked for our card which they swiped and then said "equifax had denied us due to our credit rating". They ran a credit report on me, without even asking first. It was a very humiliating and eye opening experience. We were told we needed to contact customer service to get our money back. A customer svc. number is not listed and the office was not able to provide that for me. I had to call the automated reservation number to get through their system.  They told me that I would be waiting for 3 to 10 days for our money.

I  had a previous incident when I rented a moving truck that broke down. I called them to tell them I had problems and they told me to drive it till it quit. I did and it did 1500 miles from my destination. I waited all day for a replacement and finally the shop were I ended up fixed one for me to drive. They dropped a valuable piece of eqipment when they tranferred the load. I called and e-mailed them but they never responded.
