This person established a fake profile.
The purpose of the profile is to meet, befriend, then take advantage of others.
The mechanism of the scam, is obtaining access to AT&T or other wireless carrier accounts.

AT&T currently offers a promotion where you can purchase and pickup new phones and lines of service without being physically present in a retail location.
I'm presuming this person would purchase 4 iPhones with promise of contractual service, then disappear leaving the account holder liable to repay all expenses.

They changed their age from 44 to 37 while conversing with me. They made up a story about working for the US Marines in Ireland - We don't have operations in that country.
They claimed to be trying to surprise their son and sister with phones for them and their nephews (hence 4)
The sister can not pick up the phones, yet she is watching her child / son.
The sister is in a wheelchair.
They have no friends.
They left yesterday for Ireland and will be gone for 1 month.
They write that they are keen on good communication, but can not hold a conversation and most of what was written was unintelligable.

Other contradictions between the profile and real conversation details.
Despiration for a solution / for help
Abuse of the OkCupid platform - owned by a company which also manages Tinder and Plenty Of Fish.
The dating company does not care.
