Like millions of others did before the New Year, we purchased a generator at BJ's club in Yorktown, NY. We purchased it ONLY after receiving 3 separate confirmations that it was returnable if unused. A notice posted stated: A Go-cart, lawnmower and generator is a gas-powered product and cannot be returned to the club once it has been used. We were told that the generator could not be returned IF gasoline were put into it. Also, it COULD be returned in that condition only within 14 days of purchase.

We went back to BJ's club with the unused, unfilled generator to the return desk within the 14 days. Upon arriving , we noticed a NEW sign which read : Please note that there will be no refunds on any generator thank you. The Service person behind the desk jokingly said we don't take those back and proceeded to say, I was just just giving you a hard time. He then came around the desk and inspected the generator smelling it for gasoline traces. Clearly he was ready to process the return. It was fine since no gasoline had been in it. He went to the back to get the manager and returned to say there is no refund on the generator. We asked for the manager and he came out to say the same.

We told him of the 3 confirmations, 2 by salespeople and one by phone stating that the generator was returnable. He asked WHO said that. Of course, we had no name. We then asked for the superior' name: Andy Carrol 518-583-9355. Upon leaving we obtained copies of the original notice and the one that had APPEARED suddenly. (a sales women seemed to be on our side because she said, You'll want a copy of his too.)

It's obvious that BJ's Club plans to keep the profits earned by the lack of Y2k prblems by not HONORING their promise to refund customers. The manager on top of it all rudely added, why did you buy it? You were going to use it like everybody else In other words he said SORRY SUCKER!!!

This is not where it will end!!- we will not allow them to rob and profit from consumers who were just looking out for their families during the Y2k scare
