Better Business Bureau false infomation to consumers, 40 law suits against Transmission Performance Center a BBB member, BBB still says they're OK! Phoenix Arizona *UPDATE ..taken to Jail
Does the "Better Business Bureau" help criminals to do better business ?
I was cheated by a Transmission shop "Transmission Performance Center" and filed a complaint against them. When I pulled up the BBB report about this company it only said "some complaints have remained unresolved".
After I filed my complaint nothing happened. I called them up again and again while the company still had my car. After months the BBB send the answer of the company to me, it said: we don't have the car anymore and already have a title for the car. (the Transmission shop sold my car and the buddy who bought it went to the MVD saying that he did not know who the owner was. The MVD issued him a title- welcome to Arizona!)
I went to court and found out that by the time when I filed the BBB complaint, there had already been about 40 law suits against this company in the courts computer. Instead of warning consumers of criminals like Brad Tocker (Transmission Performance Center) they give consumers misleading information about the company they are inquiring about. I won the law suit but in the meantime they went out of business. I lost about $ 7,000 and the BBB could have prevented that. The only thing they care about are their membership fees and they are not paid by the consumers.

I recently filed a complaint against a company. I was told by the company to use their mailing address in CO. I filed a complaint with the BBB in that area, as well as the AG's office in KS (my state) and CO (their state). I get a response back from a BBB located in California (guess it got forwarded from Colorado) and they "didn't understand my complaint and wanted me to write ANOTHER complaint and send it (which I will). Fortunately for me, I got a response from my AG's office the same day and they had no problem understanding my complaint. I can hardly wait for the second response from the BBB in CA.

The BBB are basically paper shufflers. Their members pay a fee to belong and when a customer coplains about a BBB memeber the BBB starts shuffling forms and letter around. When the dust settle noting happens in the customers favor.
Its a waste of time contacting the BBB.
You can get alot more done by posting here on rip off report, using the courts and contactin the state attorney generals office.

The honorable Brad Tocker (owner of "Transmission Performance Center) who had "some unresolved complaints", according to the BBB,
was arrested by the Phoenix Police and taken to jail some months ago. According to some information from a lady who sued Tocker in 5/2002, he is still in jail.
So, next time you see a company with "unresolved complaints" be aware that you are dealing with criminals....

Regarding the Transmission shop in the above complaint; By your own admission you said in your tyrade that this company had "unresolved complaints on file" at the BBB.
I think the light should have gone off at that point and maybe you would have considered another trans shop.
The BBB as far as I can tell is supported by "Membership Fees". Every Bureau is sort of a franchise with the main bureau in Arlington VA.
There are good and bad busineses in every city in the US. I can't understand why some of these "bureau's" are not more aggressive with their complaints on file.
There are other remedies besides the BBB to file a complaint or to find out if there are any complaints on file, such as your local business licensing department. We have a very good consumer relations bureau in Chicago and will either fine the company or they can suspend their
or revoke a business license if they are found to be in the wrong.
Calling the BBB is only one source for a consumer to check. You can call organizations that deal with transmissions shops to see if there a member in good standing.
You could have avoided all of this if would have "heeded" the BBB's report on this company. So I blame you to a certain degree.
