A typical sales spiel at a local hotel, and I fell for it and purchased travel services.  Research over the weekend showed they had nothing to offer that I didn't already have, so tried to cancel in accordance with the federal "cooling off law" that was a part of the contract.  Company refused to return any of over a dozen phone calls, so returned membership kit, as per law and contract, along with a formal letter of cancellation within the 3 business days both law and contract required.  At this point the company had 10 days to refund the money under federal law.  In addition, as the shipping of the membership kit was at their requiest, they must refund shipping costs.

Company failed to abide by either law or contract, and did not refund any money at all.  Have filed complaints with the FTC,the Attorney's General of both my home state and Pennsylvania, where the company is, the BBB and the credit card company.  If not successful (and with the refusal to communicate I doubt it will be) the next step will be in small claims court.  With a really complete and detailed set of documentation, have to wonder if the judge will be angry enough to impose punitive damages.
