Complaint Review: Best Buy Geek Squad

I was lucky enough to receive a 32 inch Sharp Aquos LCD tv as a wedding gift from my dad, who also purchased the 4 year service aggreement from the Geek Squad. The screen on the tv started going black, but I could still hear the sound so I thought it was the cable company. After 2 cable companies, I did a search no the tv and found that this is common with this tv.

Luckily, I thought, I have a service plan, and so I called the geek squad. They sent a tech, I was told that I needed a new mother board in the tv, they ordered it and called to set up my appt. when it came in. I received a call at 8am the morning of my appt. and was told that the box my part came in was stepped on and damaged, so they needed to re-order the part.

That was Sept. 26, 2008. Today is Nov. 4th - I have not received even 1 phone call from them, but have made over 10 calls to their service dept. I have been on hold for more than 45 minutes on one call, have asked to speak to supervisors, with no response, until today, and last week was told that my new part had come in and they scheduled a repair for today.

They scheduled this repair without notifying me and had I not called I would not have known that they were even coming. Today - no one called between 7 and 8am as they said they would, so of course I called. I had to work so I need to reschedule my appt. and they told me the next available appt. was not until Nov. 18th.

I told them that this was unacceptable, that I wanted an appt. for the 6th. I was told that they would have a supervisor call me within 4 hours, and guess what? No one called. I called again, actually spoke to a supervsor ( i think) and was told that they would call me tomorrow to confirm that an "expert tech" would be out on the 6th.

They also gave me another number to call after I asked who to call just in case I don't receive a call from them tomorrow. I'm hoping that this will go down as planned on the 6th, but after reading everything here - I'm not holding my breath. I did have someone put in a replacement request, but that has not been approved or denied as of today. It's really sad- but I will say that I will NEVER do business with Best Buy again.

The geeksquad techs are not techs more like irresponsible kids, they are rip off theives that get another name everytime they get in trouble. as an agent I will tell you all flat out they dont know how to fix computers. the agent gimmick is ridiculous, they rely on 2 cds 1 called mri & 1 they use to do the custom tweaks called customizer.

their spyware & malware removal service is a joke. They hook up the computers to what is called AJU (agent johnny utah) in which some 1 remotely "fixes your computer" which they call black op agents(they do a horrible job at fixing computers). well that is how geeksquad works. they are incompetent lazy & good at lying their rears off.

I'm also in the process of dealing with Best Buy and their so called warranty. I noticed an ex-employee advised you to call the 1-888 number. I have called that number and lived on hold for hours at a time. They want help either. Good luck.

Call 1-888 BEST BUY and let them know. Chances are (as most of the time happens).. the store isnt expecting your package, so they dont look for it. This is when it gets lost. If they don't know it's lost, they dont know to call you.

Start taking down names every time you talk to a manager. Let them know you are contacting 1-888 BEST BUY for additional help. 1-888 BEST BUY will listen your side of the story.. and call the store for immediate action.
