Dear sir or madam:

I opened an account with Associates National Bank my freshman year at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (1997)in order to pay for college expenses. Upon receiving federal financial aid and a scholarship the following fall (1998), I accepted a settlement from your company to close my account and I sent you a money order in the amount of $700 to clear my $1500 balance.

I was just recently offered another settlement from Citibank to pay off the same account. A friend of mine experienced a similar billing problem and reasoned that this mistake could be a result of you sharing your old accounts with Citibank before the settlements, payments, or cancellations were recorded.

Finally, I asked them to please review their records to see that my account was paid out and closed before the account information was given to Citibank or their collector.
