3.5 years ago I purchased an email account from AOL. I cancelled it today because I could never use the service. It was just too slow.

When cancelling I learned that the email account was free. What?? I asked...If the email account was free, what did I pay 650.00 for?

Answer: Dial up services, spyware and tech support.

Well I have no phone or cable lines in my house. I use AOL exclusively here at the office where I have high speed internet, several firewalls and security software. I would have never knowingly purchased dialup, tech support or security.

I have paid $650.00 for a service that is available to the public for free. Iam sending legal notification of fraud with demand for payment. If anyone out there has had a similar experience please respond.

I am sorry this happened to you but I don't think there is much you can do. I was also a customer of AOL but when they made the change there was numerous e-mails they sent out regarding that they were changing over to free service.

All you had to do was log into your account settings and change your account type to free. I did this as soon as I got the e-mail and was never again billed once they changed over to the free service. I can understand that you are upset but it is sort of your fault for not canceling the service because they notified all of their customers.
