I received a credit card application from United Credit National Bank (Sioux Falls, South Dakota) in 1998 that boasted repair your credit. I received this card 12/14/98 and called the 800 number to activate. However, after listening to the terms and conditions of this card, I declined to activate. I received a statement on 1/20/99 stated there was a balance of $349.95 which referenced this ACE kit.

I contacted United Credit National Bank via phone (which I got lost in voice-mail jail and could not get a live person). Finally made contact and faxed a letter cancelling the card (which was never activated to begin with) and telling them in the letter that I never received this ACE kit they were referencing.

NOW, the good stuff, 4 years later, sometime around April, 2002 ACE (American Credit Educators) they educated me alright, started contacting me about this $300.95 that I owed them!!! I was told this "kit" was shipped to me on such and such a date. I was given a UPS tracking number. I called UPS and was told they do not keep the tracking numbers that long. According to ACE the package was not signed for.

I told them I had no intention of paying for something I didn't order or receive. When I explained about the credit card never being activated, they didn't think that applied to them. They have put this on my credit report and update every 3 months. Also the credit card company, United Credit National Bank, has me listed on derogatory accounts for them.
