All Tune And Lube Tried to get me to have work done on my car that was not needed. Laurel Maryland
I went to have my oil changed and was told that there were several things wrong with my car that they wanted to fix.I knew some of what they said was a bunch of crap. I told them to just change the oil and I would worry about the rest later. And that I work for an auto parts store and get a discount on my parts.
I was told I needed a valve cover gasket, breather hose, both belts, front brake pads and rotors, sway bar links, tie rod end and an alignment. Total cost would be $1037.70.
When I got my car home I took it to my mechanic. He checked it over and replaced the tie rod end for $45.00. The valve cover gasket has a small leak and nothing to worry about, both belts are fine, the sway bar link is fine, I do need a breather hose, the brake pads are a little worn but do not need to be replaced yet and the rotors are fine, and I do not need an alignment.
I feel that they were trying to take advantage of me because I am a woman and shouldn't know about cars.
In my opnion this place is a total rip off.

When my mechanic replaced the tie rod end he included the alignment with it. Sorry I didn't make that clear in my report. I am happy to say that the car is running GREAT now.

No alignment?

You stated that your other mechanic only replaced the tie rod. Did he not do a wheel alignment after replacing the part? If he didn't do the alignment, I suggest that you get one done somewhere soon or you may wear out the front tires prematurely.
