Agent Insider Blasted my phone number to numerous insurance companies without screening the information they got/had Rancho Cordova California

Agent Insider received my phone number via the web under an obviously fake name -- a name no person would have. Instead of conducting the most simple of screening techniques (like does the number match the name? does that look like a real name?), they sent my number to numerous auto insurance companies, which are paying for valid data.

I have the pleasure then of sitting in a meeting at work and receiving numerous phone calls from various insurance agents. At least one was kind enough to provide me the information of where her company had obtained my number. Another agent, from State Farm, said, when I questioned her about why she would contact someone with an obviously fake name, "we are required to call all names fed to us." Brilliant.

I contacted Agent Insider and demanded that they remove my name from their system and that they immediately stop sending my name to anyone. I was told that this would occur "within 48 hours."

Therefore, I had the pleasure of my work cell phone blowing up.

If companies like this don't have policies to ensure that this type of telephone harassment will not occur, they shouldn't be in the business in the first place -- not to mention that they are ripping off their paying customers by providing fake names and phone numbers to them.
