Complaint Review: AAMCO Transmission

Perhaps I can help shed some light on the AAMCO Ripoff theory here. I'll start off by saying I personally know first hand about the dishonesties practiced by some AAMCO Centers. Now granted not all owners are money greedy sobs, that will look you straight in the eye and lie their asses off, but they are out there. AAMCO CORPORATE, themselves are not responsible nor should they be blamed for some of the dishonest and shameless acts of thievery performed by (some) of their franchise owners. However if a paticular Center's dishonest and unethical practices are brought to their attention they should place more effort into investigating them than they do.

Having said that , I'll move onward about Ammco and make this brief so as not to put anyone asleep! I personally was employeed at an AAMCO Center as a main automatic transmission builder. I worked there for over 8 years, where I was instructed to do some of the most dishonest and corrupt, not to exclude illegal acts ever performed in the transmission repair industry. It was part of the job there or you would get on the wrong side of your employer, which would inevideably make you an outcast and isolated from other employees, dismissal would be in the not to distant future. Once fired from here, getting another job in the same town was (or still is) almost impossible. Believe me I know first hand!

Anyway I was instructed many, many times by my employer to produce damaged parts from scrap units that did not belong in the transmission being torn down so as to guarantee a rebuild. This practice goes on constantly, even till today. If that couldn't be done then he would require an employee to bring out the acetylene torch and burn clutches and steels up to make the unit in question definately have bad parts. Yes! Even now! Every employee there would get involved with it.

So many customers came in with so minor of an external problem also (problems that could be repaired without an overhaul) till you wouldn't believe it would be possible he could get away with it. So many people having to take out loans they couldn't afford to pay, just to pad this greedy bastards wallet. This guy is shameless in his techniques he use to rob anyone entering this shop. Overhauls because of plugged exhaust systems, overhauls because of poor engine performance, because of failed $15.00 sensors, that lead to $2000.00 repairs.

Transmission services in which filters are not changed nor bands are adjusted, gaskets are not changed, But trust me that car won't leave the facility without being paid off in full. Many AAMCO Centers do practice these procedures of dishonesty. Not to forget insurance fraud either. So many times phoneyed up parts are laid out to trick insurance agents to collect money on repairs. I saw all these things and was instructed to take part in them also, or be blackballed if you quit. Several ex-employees had to file bankruptsy because they could not find jobs , I've been unemployed 3 months , unable to find work because of quiting there.

Everything I've written here is told in complete truth with no exaggerations. In closing YOU should know what AAMCO stands for (ALL AUTOMATICS MUST COME OUT!) Anyone interested in seeing proof of these dishonest trans repairs post here ,I'll show you to the web site of horror.
